Treatments

Our treatments combine traditional Chinese medicine with modern techniques to restore balance, relieve discomfort, and support overall wellbeing tailored individually for every age, condition, and lifestyle.

During your acupuncture session at The Dispensary™, you can relax in comfort as I use one or more diagnostic tools to assess your energy flow and identify the patterns giving rise to any issues you are facing. Then, rest at ease as I gently stimulate specific points on your body.

For traditional acupuncture, very fine sterile needles are inserted. For non-invasive practices (for example, acupuncture for toddlers and young children), methods like laser acupuncture or acupressure are used. These techniques are very calming, and my clients find the sessions deeply relaxing and soothing – as well as effective.

During your session, I’ll also assess which traditional herbs will best support your healing and discuss these with you for your use in between sessions. The focus is on your comfort, healing and health.

Yes, when performed by a certified, accredited and caring practitioner, acupuncture is very safe. These therapies have been used safely for thousands of years and are especially gentle for sensitive groups such as babies, toddlers, the elderly, people who are going through cancer treatment, and people with a history of trauma. I prioritise your comfort and safety in every session.

Most people are pleasantly surprised to find that acupuncture is not painful. The needles are extremely thin, and insertion is gentle. For babies, toddlers and children, and others on request or where appropriate, I use laser acupuncture, acupressure and other non-invasive techniques, which are entirely pain-free and comfortable. If you or your child feel any discomfort, I adjust the treatment to ensure a comfortable, soothing experience. Your comfort and ease are paramount.

The number of sessions varies depending on your individual needs and health goals. Typically, a course of 4 to 6 treatments can provide noticeable improvements, but some conditions may benefit from ongoing care. Based on your concerns and needs, I tailor your plan to ensure you feel supported and encouraged every step of the way.

Many people find great relief from chronic pain conditions such as back pain, neck and shoulder pain, migraines, arthritis, and fibromyalgia through acupuncture. This gentle therapy works by encouraging your body’s natural healing processes and activating pain-relief mechanisms, helping you regain comfort and mobility naturally.

Yes. Acupuncture and non-invasive techniques like laser acupuncture are especially gentle and well-tolerated by older adults. They can help manage issues like joint stiffness, arthritis, nerve damage such as peripheral neuropathy, as well as stress, promoting overall relaxation and balance in a safe, comfortable way.

Yes! For little ones, I use laser acupuncture, acupressure, and other gentle, safe techniques that do not involve needles. These methods are calming and can help with issues like colic, bloating and constipation, teething discomfort, sleep disturbances, respiratory conditions, chronic coughs and colds and allergies. The goal is to support your child’s health and wellbeing in the kindest and most soothing way possible.

When performed by a caring and qualified practitioner, side effects are very rare. Mild reactions like slight redness or tenderness at the treatment site are common but temporary. With non- invasive methods like laser acupuncture, there is no discomfort at all. Your health, comfort and safety are always my top priorities. Please let me know at the start of the session if you have any concerns at all.

These therapies work by gently stimulating energy pathways in your body – known as meridians – to help restore harmony and balance. When your energy flows freely and harmoniously, it supports your immune system, promotes circulation, reduces stress, and enhances your overall sense of wellbeing. Acupuncture is a natural way to nurture your health from the inside out.

Yes, absolutely. Many of my clients find that traditional Chinese medicine, acupuncture and non-invasive techniques complement their existing treatments beautifully. They can work together to support your health and healing and reduce side effects to other treatments (such as cancer treatment) such as bloating, constipation, nausea, insomnia, fear and anxiety, and promote an overall sense of wellness and balance.

Yes, with a skilled and understanding practitioner, acupuncture and laser treatments can be very safe and helpful during pregnancy. They can assist with morning sickness, lower back pain, hip and pelvic pain, anxiety, and fatigue, always tailored to suit your comfort and stage of pregnancy in a gentle and supportive way.

To get the most out of your session with me, please wear comfortable clothing. Especially during our first session together, I’ll ask you a series of questions to understand your needs and desires, and to identify the root causes of the issues you’re facing, so please share any health concerns or medications with me at that time. After your appointment, taking it easy for a few minutes before you leave the tranquil Dispensary™ clinic can help your body integrate the benefits of the treatment and leave you feeling fully refreshed.
